Call for Art Class Proposals
Center for Hmong Arts and Talent (CHAT) is calling on Artists for Art Class Proposals that will be offered to Hmong youth in the Art Saves Us (ASU) program during the summer months in 2010. We are seeking proposals for art classes that will challenge, develop and involve creativity, self-expression and build confidence in Hmong youth. CHAT invites interested artists to actively participate in the development and instruction of a 15-week art course for Hmong youth. All individuals that have an interest in the arts, teaching youth, and understand the enriching benefits of art activities are encouraged to apply!
ASU is an after school program that offers free art classes to Hmong youths ages 10-19 years old as a way to immerse the youth to comprehend and explore the arts in an array of disciplines. Classes in the past have included painting, ceramics, bookmaking, video-poetry, mask making, and puppetry.
The session will be set for May 17 through August, 2010. There will be a final showcase/exhibition at CHAT’s Annual Arts Festival at Mears Park at the end of August. Each class is two hours long, once a week, for a total of 15 weeks. We will pay you a set stipend of $500.
Please keep in mind that our schedule is planned in advanced and that you should submit materials by April 2nd, 2010. You will be by the Youth Coordinator at CHAT only if your class proposal is accepted, please do not call to check on the status.
